Start up a junk removal business for profit
With just a few free hours a week, you can easily make $25 an hour cash if you start a junk removal business.

The first step is to apply for a business license. Search for "get a business license in (my state)." Every state offers online licensing, usually for about $50. Carry this license on every job. Customers may ask to see it.

Second, place an ad on Craigslist. Craigslist is perhaps the busiest resource for hauling services. Call your competitors. Check their pricing. Undercut the other companies by about ten percent. New companies need to charge less to get established. You can raise your prices later. Include a photo of yourself in your Craigslist ad. The photo will often double your calls and emails. Be sure to write an ad that includes all the terms your customers will be searching for, such as: junk hauling, junk removal, landfill, furniture, recycling, yard debris, move out, etc.

The ad will result in calls. And emails. When you answer them, be sure to ask important questions about the quantity of the junk, (the location of the junk could be in a 3rd floor attic), the type of junk, and the customer's location. Then quote a rate that would be worth it for you. Remember that the average cost on each job, including dump fees, is about $65.

The final step is to do the job! If you don't have a truck, rent one from U-Haul or Home Depot for $20. Load up your truck. A lot of junk can be reconditioned and resold. Drop those off at home, clean them up, and list them on Craigslist. Dispose of the remaining items at the dump.

Junk hauling is a service that people pay well for. It's usually cash as payment. You don't even have to take on every job. If the job is too large, decline it. Avoid dangerous jobs involving harmful chemicals. Not worth the risk! There are many small and easy jobs available on Craigslist. Do a few a week and make some extra cash weekly.
